Description
This house is located in the French Ardennes, just ten km from the Belgian border in the picturesque village of Tournavaux. The plot, surrounded by a high hedge, is located on a hill with a beautiful view of the valley. The Semois river flows less than 50 m from the house. Not far from the house, less than 100m, you have access to the woods or you can go for a walk along the river. From the large terrace you can enjoy nature and the beautiful views. It is wonderful to be woken up by the birds in the morning and when you look outside the whole valley is shrouded in mist. They only disappear after sunrise. The garden is also beautiful and full of fruit trees. Usually my guests have already picked everything and nothing is left for myself. There is enough space to play soccer or badminton. The plot is surrounded by a high hedge of 2.5 m but there is no gate or fence. People who bring their pet cannot just let it run free in the garden.
The wooden house has a fitted kitchen, a living room, 2 bathrooms and 3 bedrooms.
We provide bed sheets, duvets + cover, but you have to bring your own towels. Everything is ready, but you have to make the beds yourself. In the house there is Satellite TV, a DVD player and Wifi. Netflix can also be viewed because there are 2 accounts available. The user can choose whether he wants to watch his favorite movies or series with Dutch subtitles or in French. The rustic building can accommodate 5 people. Exceptionally, there can be 7.
The terrace has a large stone barbecue, a garden table with seating for 8 people and a large parasol. There are also 2 sun loungers. The building is heated with a heat pump which also produces the domestic hot water. Every room is equipped with air conditioning so that you will never get too hot even in the hot summer nights.
The rainwater is recovered and used for the toilet and washing machine. The waste water is purified before it disappears into the sewer.
Here you can enjoy the silence and leave the daily worries behind.
Environment
The village of Tournavaux is located in the French department of Ardennes (Grand Est region) and has about 250 inhabitants. The place is part of the Charleville-Mézières district. The municipality is located near the Belgian border and is cut in half by the Semois. Its neighboring municipalities are Haulmé, les Hautes-Rivières and Thilay.
The hamlet is located in the middle of a large natural park. From Givet (border with Belgium) it is a 40 minutes drive through the woods and here you have a great chance to see wild animals. (badgers, foxes, deer, wild boars). Especially at dusk you have the best chance of spotting them from the car.
About 21 km away is the town of Charleville-Mézières, which is worth visiting, especially in the evening. There are nice restaurants, bars and usually fun activities in the summer season. In Montherme, 5 minutes from Tournavaux, you can cycle along the Meuse or take a boat trip. This is also the place to go shopping in the supermarket.
Here you also have a bureau de tourisme.
In the river, a few hundred meters from the house, there is a dam where the local youth go swimming in the summer. For those who do not like slippery stones and want space, you can drive to the lake " lac des Vieilles forges ". This mountain lake has an surface which is arround 1.4 km². Here you can swim or rent a boat. There are also some nice restaurants and a playground. A walk around the lake takes about 4h and the distance is +/- 16 km.

Trips from 1.5 to 19.5 km in a single or double kayak. Arrival is at the bridge in Tournavaux at 100m from the house.
